ABOUT ME
One of the most important things to know about me is that I absolutely LOVE what I do and work very hard to take great care of my clients.
My counseling style is warm and interactive. I believe in treating everyone with respect, sensitivity, and compassion. My approach to counseling combines cognitive-behavioral and person-centered techniques and I will tailor our time together to meet your unique and specific needs.

However, I’m not a “smile and nod” therapist. I enjoy honest, engaging dialogue with my clients and will give you feedback as we work together. While we will often navigate hard and challenging emotions - we will laugh as well. With more than 20 years of experience in this field, I’ve developed a pretty strong "BS" detector and the ability to recognize patterns, avoidance, and the stories we tell ourselves that keep us stuck. I’ll challenge you when needed, and I’m not afraid to talk openly about anything you want or need to process through without any stigma, shame, or embarrassment.
My goal is to create a space where everything can be brought into the open, worked through with honesty and compassion, and transformed into meaningful growth—so you can move forward toward a healthier, happier life.

It takes courage to seek a better life and I am here to support and empower you as you take those first steps toward making a positive change for yourself!

Now for the degrees, experience, and expertise:
I obtained my Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from the University of Texas at Tyler in 2001 (Summa Cum Laude). I then went on to complete my Master’s Degree in Professional Counseling (Magna Cum Laude) also from the University of Texas at Tyler in 2003.
I was trained by a Board Certified Behavior Analyst for 2 years and have over 24 years of experience working with behavioral problems and children, adolescents, and adults on the Autism spectrum.
I worked at Heartlight Ministries in Hallsville, TX, a residential treatment center for adolescents, as both a counselor and their director of counseling from 2004-2006.
I opened the doors of my private practice in 2006 and have been here ever since!
I have over 23 years of experience as a Licensed Professional Counselor working with children, adolescents, adults, couples and families. I am licensed by The Arkansas State Board of Examiners in Counseling as well as The Texas State Board of Examiners of Professional Counselors. I am also a board approved Supervisor for LPC Associates in the state of Texas.
I served for 3 years as the Training Coordinator and a PRIDE Trainer for The CALL in Pope County. The CALL works tirelessly to recruit and train families to foster and adopt children that are in foster care throughout the state of Arkansas. It was a privilege to volunteer and serve with this incredible organization.

I speak and provide trainings for organizations on various mental health issues.

In my spare time, I am always up for an adventure! I enjoy just about all things outdoors, traveling, reading, knitting, and a good glass of ice cold sweet tea!
