CLINICAL SUPERVISION FOR
LPC ASSOCIATES

Welcome and thank you for your interest in considering me as a supervisor while you pursue full independent licensure in the state of Texas as a practicing Licensed Professional Counselor.

If you read my "About Me" page, then you already know that one of the most important things you need to know about me is that I absolutely LOVE what I do and work very hard to take great care of my clients. As your supervisor, I will also work very hard to take great care of you as I support and encourage you in your development as a clinical practitioner.

Just as my counseling style is warm and interactive, so is my style of supervision. I believe in treating everyone with respect, sensitivity, and compassion and trusting you to do your part as an LPC Associate to learn, grow, and develop as a skilled counselor.

I currently offer private clinical supervision for LPC Associates in accordance with the Texas state licensing board requirements (off-site). I do not employ LPC Associates in my practice but will mentor those interested in having a private practice upon full licensure as part of clinical supervision.

I enjoy mentoring LPC Associates with diverse interests and career goals - including helping you find and develop a career path that is the best fit for you. I do not believe in creating a "mini-me"; rather, I want to help you develop your own style and rhythm of counseling in order to achieve the goals you have for yourself personally and professionally

In Texas, you do not find a supervisor and are good to go. Your supervisor's license and liability is tied specifically to where you work and a form must be completed for each site. Good supervisors carefully screen where they will supervise, ensuring you as an LPC Associate are practicing safely. I am no different, and meet with new graduates after an employment position has been secured.

Clinical supervision includes 24/7 coverage of the temporary license with my full license (i.e., whenever an LPC Associate is working as a counselor). In other words, I carry limited liability for the practice of LPC Associates that I supervise. Therefore, I do require strict adherence to meeting weekly (I offer web-cam supervision as an option for weekly face-to-face meetings, although no more than half of all supervision meetings may be in this format).

The monthly charge for my clinical supervision services is $400 per month and includes:

  • 4 - 1 hour individual supervision sessions specific to case conceptualization/review, growth and development of counseling skills, building confidence in your skills and applying them in session with clients, etc.

  • Mentoring on how to start and build a successful private counseling practice (with or without billing insurance...I have done both). This includes helping you figure out your niche, things to think about when picking where your office will be located as well as when you are designing your therapy office, all the forms you need for running a clinical practice, and how you plan to present yourself as a professional to the community.

  • Understanding the business side of a private counseling practice and helping you establish great systems from the start so you can be successful both financially and professionally long term. This includes marketing strategies, accounting systems, forms that must be filed with the city and state government, taxes, and how to legally protect yourself and your liability as a professional counselor but also as a business owner.

I highly encourage you to interview several supervisors rather than race to find someone to complete a supervisor agreement form that is required in the licensing application process. Clinical supervision is a unique relationship lasting a minimum of 18 months, and there must be a good "fit" for both the supervisor and the supervisee in personality, professional development goals, and logistics - such as availability to meet.

If you would like to schedule a FREE 30-minute initial interview, please call/text me at 903.918.9831 or email me.

This interview can take place via Simple Practice (HIPPA Compliant telehealth platform) or in-person, whichever is most convenient for you.

Think of this first call as an interview of sorts. I have a list of questions that I ask every prospective LPC Associate that help me determine if I’m the right supervisor for you. Finding an LPC Supervisor isn’t easy, and it’s one of the most important decisions you’ll make as an associate. I don’t want either of us to rush into a supervisory relationship without feeling pretty good about our work together.

I ask that you also come prepared with your own set of questions. Transparency is vital to providing great supervision, so I will do my best to answer any and all questions you might have.

If the two of us agree that we’d like to work together, we will complete the required forms and agreements and schedule an initial supervisory session.
